Ladies Professional Golf Association

Visit LPGA.comThe Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) is a nonprofit organization involved in every facet of golf. Founded in 1950, the LPGA is the world’s longest-running, women’s professional sports association. The following comprises the foundation of the LPGA:
  • The LPGA Tour is the world’s pre-eminent women’s golf tour, where the best women professional golfers are competing in at least 35 events in eight countries during 2008, with prize money of more than $60 million, the highest ever in LPGA history.
  • The LPGA Teaching and Club Professional (T&CP), founded in 1959, consists of nearly 1,200 members who oversee the grassroots programs that are vital to the future growth and success of golf. Members are dedicated to the advancement of golf through teaching, managing clubs and other golf facilities and coaching rising stars.
  • The LPGA and its tournaments have raised approximately $190 million for national and local charities since 1981.
  • The LPGA takes great steps to advance interest in golf among children. The LPGA’s initiatives, which are operated under the guidance of the LPGA T&CP, include LPGAUSGA Girls Golf, the Ronald McDonald House Charities LPGA Tour Junior Golf Clinics ’s involvement in the World Golf Foundation’s First Tee initiative. In addition, the LPGA Tour, in conjunction with the LPGA Tournament Owners Association, is the first professional golf tour to institute a “kids free” admission policy for all tournaments for children 15-and-under who are accompanied by a ticketed adult.
  • The LPGA also strides to encourage women to participate in the game of golf through the LPGA Golf Clinics for Women, a national program that provides a platform to teach businesswomen the game of golf. LPGA Golf Clinics for Women are held at selected sites around the country. Log onto to www.LPGA.com for the complete schedule of clinics.
Guided by its Board of Directors and headquartered in Daytona Beach, Fla., the LPGA is committed to showcasing the very best in women’s professional golf through expanding the LPGA Tour and the LPGA T&CP, providing additional opportunities to expose women, men and youth to the game and increasing the contributions of the organization and its tournaments to charities. More detailed information on each of these programs and memberships is provided on www.LPGA.com.
